Conveniences

Conveniences make life a lot easier. They make things more easily accessible. The way in which situations pan out and the way people react to them alter the outcome of things. The decisions we make can change our lives. Conveniences set situations at ease and sometimes alter the results. When situations come of ease, people do not have to work as hard to complete certain tasks. For example, if I am at restaurant with a group of my friends, I take the liberty to clean up the area around where I ate, instead of leaving it all there in a mess for someone to pick up. Yes it’s the bus boys job to clean but I always think of ways to make peoples job more convenient because if it were me I would want someone to do the same for me.  Another example is when I go to a department store in the mall like Macy’s, I go throughout the store and pick up different clothes or shoes and accessories I like. I always make sure to put the things I don’t want back where I found them or with a clerk who will. This makes it easier on those who work in the department because they don’t have to go and try to find the sales items they work with in other departments. I also do this to make situations convenient for other people. I feel that making little things convenient is an act of consideration of others. This simple act has powerful effects. For me, making people jobs for example a lot easier I positively effect their day and could have the slightest effect on them.

Good habits

Prompt 3 Semester 1
We are all creatures of habit. We tend to become comfortable in certain aspects of life and cling to the things that we are the most familiar with. The patterns we create for ourselves can be beneficial or harmful and they inevitably affect both us and those around us.  The habits that we adapt affect our health and well being. Practicing good healthy habits improve the things that pertain to our physical, mental/emotional and financial health. Living a healthy lifestyle is essential to a long and happy life. There are many routines that we could practice in order to live healthily. One habit that I have adapted in my everyday life is eating healthy. I believe that choosing what we put in our bodies on a day to day base is very important. Some people choose to eat very healthy foods, aware that there better for your digestive system and overall health as a person.
There is a common saying that’s goes,”you are what you eat”, which is simply the notion that to be both healthy and fit you must eat good foods. According to the Women’s Fitness articles on diet, “our energy levels, mood and body image are all influenced by dietary choices”. Eating good foods has a lot to do with structuring the right habits.  It is easier to adapt to multiple eating habits if you begin with the easiest of them. Drinking plenty of water is essential for strong health. 70 percent of our bodies are composed of water and by knowing that, we should understand that drinking lots of it as a daily habit could only benefit us.
Making sure to eat breakfast every morning is also a good habit that is important to good health.  Breakfast is one of the most important meals of the day, providing us with the energy we need to start our day. Starting your morning off eating things like fruits, and whole grains gives you the essential vitamins you need to be healthy. Making sure that you do not skip eating lunch is also a part of healthy eating. Just as breakfast, people tend to overlook the necessity of eating a lunch. There are risk factors that come from skipping lunch that according to the Healthy Mailer Menu online articles, when we skip lunch , our “blood sugar levels drop,  our metabolism slows down to compensate for the missing fuel and when you get home you are starving and eat everything you can get your hands on.” Thus, not making the right choices leads to bad habits.
As someone who now eats healthier, I realize the difference in myself that resulted from changing the way I eat. I am in a happy and energetic mood almost all of the time. I take the time to eat healthy, because I now that it will only help me in the long run. I am aware that there are direct and probable health issues that result from a bad diet. If I start at a young age to prevent myself from falling in the unfortunate circumstances of bad habits of bad eating, I am one step closer to achieving my goals of good habits that improve my physical, emotional, and future financial health, that ultimately will allow me to live a overall healthy and happy lifestyle.

Fame & Fortune

Our dreams are only steps away from becoming a reality. Dreams and goals begin as ideas, and with time and practice those grow as talents and those talents blossom into professions. After professionalism, we become somewhat experts at the subject or topic and are able to teach it to others. When people become experts at something it not only brings them greater intelligence but a larger bank account. As talents and expertise become noticed, fame and fortune start to set in. When situations like this occur it is important that people remain humble and have self respect. It is essential that they keep their priorities in order, and do not become lost in “the scene”. The key to surviving in the lime light is remembering who and what you stood for before you got to that place and not letting that go. Staying true to yourself and being humble are also ways to keep you on the right track.. We as humans have the intelligence, strength, creativity and necessary tools to achieve what we want in life. With tenacity, patience and hard work anything can be done. A person’s ambitions and determination drive them to do what they want in life. People that have set goals in their lives set up strategic ways in which they can achieve them. They live their lives in an orderly fashion that will allow them to reach the pinnacle of their success. Life can bring unexpected changes, that make seem like they alter our path, but as humans under God, we have free will. And with that free will we have the freedom to make choices that will either help or hurt us. A person can

Enviromental Problem

There are plenty of environmental health issues that affect our nation today. Possibly one the most urgent ones is the way we mistreat our planet. Pollution is an environmental concern that I think needs immediate attention. It is our job and responsibility to keep our earth clean and not destroy it with toxins that we create and waste that we let pile up. We our destroying ourselves when we turn our back on our environment and choose not take care of it by chocking it with chemicals like airplane fuel burning away our ozone layer , or allowing hundreds of gallons of oils to spill into our oceans. These among other things like not recycling or big trash refineries form a cycle and create bigger problems for us as humans. People have publicly expressed their concern on the issue but still it has received too little notice and recognition of the seriousness of the matter. If we continue to pollute our earth, we will put our health and safety at danger. By not taking immediate action we allow the problem to persist and create bigger issues. Our nation already suffers with war and economy issues at large, pollution not something added that we need to our plate. Pollution does not have to get bad if we take an early action plan, rather than sitting around continuing life as we know it, until it is too late to fix a problem that could have been solved years earlier. We as a nation can stop pollution if we work together, and reach out publicly to make sure we don’t allow it to destroy us.

Public Health Concern

There are plenty of public health issues that affect our nation today.  American people struggle with nutrition, and physical health and fatal diseases like cancer, obesity, smoking and heart disease. Possibly one of the most effective and prevalent of these in our society today is heart disease.  Also known as cardiovascular disease, it is something that many Americans and people around the world battle with daily.  According to the” Heart Attacks and Strokes” article written by the Center of Disease Control and Prevention, heart attacks and strokes are the top ranking causes of death in Americans of all ages in the United States.  The article went on to specify that, “More than 1.4 million Americans die of heart disease and strokes annually, which means one American dies of heart disease every 36 seconds.” This is a serious problem that needs to be fixed. Systems and programs need to be enforced for Americans to become healthier. It may be a major problem in our society but it is not impossible to correct. Most major health problems are the result of other singular or multiple minor health problems. Some of the problems that lead to strokes and heart attacks are hypertension, cigarette smoking, and diabetes, which are al things you could easily prevent yourself from having by living healthy lifestyles. Doing things like exercising on a regular bases, and eating healthy food, and laughing a lot are all things that would allow you to prevent yourself from having those minor problems that with time lead to the larger ones like heart attacks and strokes.  Our heart and our brain are vital parts of our survival, so we should do all that we can to ensure that they remain strong and healthy. The only way that this can be done is by encouraging and implementing effective ways of changing the way Americans function and making sure we make better decisions by thinking and acting healthier
I see the colors black, red, rich purple and blue
I hear jazzy slow music
The mood it brings is that of lonliness and pain, but also strength
The emotion is cold  and tired
The taste is a sense of bitterness

Smoking.. cause and result

Smoking is not cool or cute. Unfortunately teens under the influence of peer pressure and bad decision making become blind to this fact and choose to smoke. It is neither healthy nor smart, and can lead to bad breathe, bad skin, failing lungs and even death. Nicotine is an addictive drug that only progresses over time. This means that once you had a sample, you want more. When you start from a young age you double the likeliness for you to become more addicted and go on slow road to diminishing your years of a healthy life style. The causes of teenage smoking could be anything from seeing their parents, family, or possibly even celebrity idols do it. Teens that smoke ruin their chances of an effective and valuable education. Smoking causes you to lose brain cells. As teens your bran is still developing, so when you smoke you kill of brain cells before you can get more. Upon harming themselves they place those around them in high danger. Second hand smoke is deadly, and very effective to those exposed to it. People cannot give up on the teens who need to live above the influence. They need guidance and encouragement to stop while they can. Teens are the future of the world, and they will not be any good if they are dying off, or have half the amount of brain cells they need or are constantly coughing from emphysema.  Smoking is a big issue that can and must be stopped, being self educated and knowing the effects, and then going out to teach them is the only way to stop it from progressing.

Why Math

# 8 Daily Blog  Prompt
Math is universal. People all over the world speak different languages, but math is the one thing that doesn’t change as you travel the globe. It is the one common subject that we as humans share. For instance, I and a student from china could connect through solving a difficult math problem. We both don’t speak the language, we may not even have some of the same beliefs, but we both know how to solve difficult math problems. Math is important in our history and our future. Math is the bases for some of the world’s greatest wonders like the great Egyptian pyramids, where our ancient Egyptian ancestors used math to build those vast sculptures. Math is important today in building technology like space ships to explore outside of our world, or airplanes to travel from place to place. Math is used to construct medical supplies and tools for hospitals for surgeons. Scientist and doctors use math to diagnose and treat, patients.  Math is used in jobs like bankers who give you the money you need or by cashers who supply you with goods and exchange your money. Nearly every profession uses math whether they know it or not. Math is highly significant for the productivity and advancement of our nation.  Without math, I am not sure what our world would look like.  Math is a required subject all throughout schooling and even in college. It is important that people understand the basic to the advanced levels of math.  With understanding math concepts people can go far, understanding how to solve and complete complex problems with solutions and sometimes tricks and shortcuts. This knowledge and skillful ability can help in any job, because almost all jobs and even in everyday life we conflict and solution issues, having a strong mathematical background would help in solving them accurately.

Food Critic

# 7 Daily Blog Prompts
Life is about making choices. We alter our future based upon the daily decisions we make as individuals with free will. We decide things like what we will say, do, wear, and eat. Among these choosing what we put in our bodies on a day to day base is very important. Some people choose to eat very healthy foods, aware that there better for your digestive system and overall health as a person. Others do not mind eating greasy foods or junk food. A lot of times what we eat, is our own decision. As children your parents or guardians tell you what you can and cannot eat, because they are the ones either buying or preparing the meal. As we get older and are then able to make our own decisions we tend to splurge every now and then.  Usually people eat what they crave if they have the money and means to get it. Our conscience tells us right from wrong but sometimes our eyes and taste buds scream louder and tempt us to eat the things we know we should not. Our senses and eyesight draw us toward particular food choices. When food is presented in a creative and nice and neat manner, people are more willing and tempted to eat it because it looks good and presentable.  If food was thrown on a plate, spilling over, with the food all mixed together, no one would find that appetizing and therefore would not eat it. Picking what we eat is a major part to our day, being that we eat at least three main meal a day and snack periodically. People care what goes in their bodies and that is why they choose certain foods to eat.

The Internet

# 6 daily blog prompt
The Internet has become as popular as it serves many purposes. The internet it makes the lives of those who use it a lot easier as it is a fast and accurate way to obtain important and interesting information. You can even get internet on your phone or music holder like IPods. It provides different purposes for the users and providers of it.  For users it provides a quick and somewhat accurate way of conducting research by providing pictures and videos, news articles, historical books, current event. The internet is more than just an academic help, but it is a social network. We now have cites like Facebook, MySpace, oovoo, Skype, twitter and more, that are ways of contacting family and friends. The internet is used to entertain people by using cites like YouTube to listen to music or watch music videos. You can now watch television programs and movies online as well. For internet providers it provides a different purpose. There purpose for the internet is to make money. They upload, add and analyze what consumers are interested in and enjoy doing, upload those things to the internet and make a profit off of it. . Roy Posner, president of the Growth Online stated that “the internet mirrors our own human evolution pointing to the future evolution of the human race”. The providers are intelligent people in tune with what is “in” in society, and the future of what would interest the people in it.  The providers need the users to make their profitable business so successful. So far they have succeeded in entertaining and informing users with worldwide internet services.

Necessary change of plans

# 5 daily blog prompt
Life is unpredictable. It presents different twist and changes as time goes on.  Things change unexpectedly and people change like seasons.  When circumstances become unbearable or awkward a change is necessary. I can think of plenty of situations where changes have occurred either over time or at the last minute that changed the entire result of things. From that I have learned that sometimes changes are a necessity early on, when signs of change present themselves. Tough I am not familiar with it personally, or know any who went through it, a specific situation in which change is necessary is when someone is facing abuse. Abuse can be verbal, or physical. Often time’s people overlook the signs of verbal abuse that lead to physical abuse. Respect is too often something overlooked, and misunderstood. When people experience loud yelling or rude behavior and people that try to break them down with unkind words and gestures, changes need to be made immediately. It is never okay for someone to accept disrespect privately or publicly. When people begin to physically abusive there is also a time for immediate change. There are signs to these types of unfortunate circumstances and you can stop them before they start. . Things you can do is be aware of who you are dealing with, making sure you know who your true friends are and who has your best interest at heart. When you realize that you’re in situations like abuse a change of plans become necessary.

Vacation in Figi

# 4 daily blog prompt
My vision of an ideal vacation would be one to remember. My vacation would be longer than most, lasting for approximately three months, more than likely during the summer. There are plenty of places I could go around the world, but if I had to choose one I think I would go to the Figi Islands. I find tropical vacations peaceful and exciting. Being that I have never been to Figi, I think it would be fun and unpredictable. My vacation would start as soon as I touched foot on the island. I would immediately check in to my hotel suite, which would be right at the shore of the beach overlooking the Pacific Ocean paradise. I would head out to the crystal clear warm water and relax for a while. I would then, go and sign up for various activities like snorkeling or fishing. After signing up, I would check out some of the restaurants, trying some of the foods and different tropical drinks. I would end my day at a traditional luau eating with the people of the island and other visitors, and joining in the activities and dances they do. The following days would present new adventures like hiking, and parceling. I would dine in the nicest restaurants on the island and visit some of the remote places where people call home, to sample some of the real island food that I wouldn’t find in the tourists area my suite was in. The different foods and activities would make my trip one to remember, an ideal vacation for a three month period of time.

Obesity- A major issue

# 3 Daily Blog Prompt
Obesity has become a world- wide issue.  The issue not only presents physical health complications, but mental and societal ones as well. Being or becoming overweight can drastically change a person’s personality, causing them to be anti social or very guarded. People tend to target people of un- normal weight as a target to jokes. This hurts those that are overweight mentally, some even physically that might result to cutting themselves to release the pain felt inside. There is a saying that goes, “sticks and stones may break my bones but your words don’t hurt me”. Though we try to cover up our feelings about what people say and do expressing how it may not affect us, it does because words hurt. Intelligence and pride are not advertised as much as provocative behavior and looks.  People in society have it backwards, defining beauty as what is on the outside rather then what is on the inside. In society personality is not enough, and being pretty is defined by people with certain facial and bodily features. In cases, like this overweight or obese people become a social outcast. These unfortunate effects to a society influenced by society, rather than people who think for themselves cause problems.  Understanding that there will always be rude people that talk bad about you, and that it is your job to be strong both spiritually, mentally, and emotionally, and let it go is a key individual result. I do not agree with obesity by any means as I see it is a growing problem that must be discontinued for the betterment of society’s health. However, I do feel like just because people choose to or fallen down unhealthy paths it is not moral for us to taunt and tease them but rather encourage and uplift them. They need help physically and mentally, letting them know that it is a problem and that we care and are willing to help rather than make fun. We should embrace the fact that God made us unique, in various shapes and sizes colors and personalities.

Opposites

#2 Daily Blog Prompts
They say opposites attract. As incompatible as it may seem, two people of different interests and backgrounds can become allies. It is possible that the vast difference between the two people could draw a greater interest, as opposed to being with someone whom is so similar to themselves. People that have differences learn from each. Through that they learn more about themselves as individuals. The unpredictable relationship could also draw greater interest because you aren’t sure what to expect. It’s exciting, meeting someone who speaks another language than you, or is used to different customs because you get a chance to experience their culture and background. For instance, I experienced a lot of this while in Brazil this past summer. It is somewhat unlikely that intelligent Christian teens from Inglewood California could bond with also intelligent Portuguese speaking teens that practiced the religion known as Conbumble. Contrary to that assumption we were able to learn from each other and understand, appreciate, and like each other’s history, and language, and customs. My church youth group went in late July, knowing only a little of the history of Brazil and the Portuguese language and. While there I learned the language more as I learned to communicate with the Brazilian people. I learned their customs and religions, and history as well. The exciting thing was that they too were interested in my culture and background, so it went both ways. It was intriguing and new. WE had different interest, different backgrounds, and various other life circumstances, but that didn’t stop s from being friends. True friendship doesn’t depend on where you come from or what makes you different because no two people are the same. Friendship is the bases of seeing each others differences and accepting them for who they are as a person.

The Outdoors

# 1 Daily Blog post
The outdoors is both beautiful and harsh presenting positives and negatives. Outdoor living gives you a chance to breathe the crisp fresh air, tall green trees and rare plants, blooming fragranced flowers of multiple colors and water ranging from the clearest blue to the darkest greens. The natural world is peaceful and refreshing providing a sense of physical and spiritual unity and growth. Living outside provides the opportunity explore your surrounding and to be more intelligent and independent, not relying on technology to solve simple or complex task , or a structured building to provide standard place to live. Living outside gives you the chance to move from place to place and see the world in a different way.
You can wake up next to bakeries to the smell of freshly baked breads and pastries. Throughout the day you can snack on all the natural berries and fruits from bushes and trees. For dinner you  catch fresh fish with a fishing rod in lakes and ponds, not genetic or mechanically engineered food that’s sold in stores that we as customers may have no prior knowledge of. At night you set up a place to sleep on the earth’s surface in beautiful gardens with the most soothing and aroma therapeutic flowers.
Aside from the breathtaking awe, when I can’t help but think of living in the outdoors in the 21st century, I think of a rather unfortunate circumstance.  I think of the millions of people losing their homes daily, in this country and around the world forced to live on the streets. Finding ways to survive on a day to day bases living outside can be hard. Important factors like safety and a healthy shelter or places to get a food and fresh water immediately come to mind. In these instances, you grow as an individual, learning how to hunt and gather as our ancestors did, and as some people in the world still do today. You adapt survival skills like the weather, and learning how fish or hunt and cook for yourself, starting a fire that can last through the night, and lastly gaining street smarts to survive the ones you call home each night. Outdoor living is both rough and unpredictable but not impossible by any means. Some find outdoor living to be an unpleasant experience while others find joy and contentment with living outdoors.

A time when I was happy

Happiness comes in many forms. Many people are on a daily pursuit to happiness. Though one can find joy in different people, places, and situations, I believe that true happiness comes from within. There are plenty of distinct things that come to mind when I reminisce on joyous times. A particular time was when I won seventy five dollars in a money raffle. A few years ago, I performed a play/ dance for a breast cancer awareness luncheon. Aside from participating in the luncheon, I helped as a hostess at the luncheon. One of my many jobs was to be in charge of the raffle by selling and passing out tickets, and then picking the names. My mother had bought tickets for her and I, so I didn’t have to worry about being the raffle myself. The raffle was a money a raffle for either a fifty, seventy-five, or one hundred dollar cash prize. I don’t ever win any of the items in raffles, so I didn’t expect this time to be any different. The director of the luncheon called me and few other girls up to help pick names for the raffle. We all gathered around, and waited as they got settled for us to pick names. I looked out into the crows as people frantically held their ticket stubs as though they were in a drawing for the super lottery. We pulled a few names that; I assume left the luncheon early, because no one came up to claim their prize. We went on, and one of the other hostess girls drew a name from the large bowl for the fifty dollar cash prize. One woman near the back of the room screaming frantically, yelling: “That’s me! That’s me!”, another hostess came up and took the envelope with the cash inside and gave it to the over joyous woman. I was next to draw a name, I dipped my hand in the bowl and drew out a name. To my surprise it was my own. I smiled in disbelief, and accepted the prize. My happiest moment wasn’t winning the cash prize, but what I did with that money. With the money I was given, I gave to my friend who I knew was struggling with financial issues at the time. Seventy five dollars may not have been enough, but it was enough to make a substantial difference in her situation. She cried and thanked me for what I had done. She returned to school the next day, saying that the money truly helped her situation and it truly eased some of the problems she was facing. My happiness that day came from knowing that someone that I cared about was happy.

Genetic Modification ..Is it a good idea ?

Prompt 2 Semester 1
“More and more farmers and food manufacturers are genetically modifying their crops to reduce susceptibility to disease, improve, flavor, and reduce costs. Do you think genetically modifying foods is a good idea? Why or why not? Use specific reasons and examples to support your position”
Genetic modification is a new and exciting system of advancement in American society.  It is being used more and more by farmers and food manufacturers to seemingly reduce disease, improve flavor, and reduce cost. Being that this is a new and still developing system, there is so much that is unknown about it, which could cause more harm than good.  Genetic engineering or genetic modification has even become a global issue. According Shah Anup, a columnist for Global Issues stated “A lot of food that we eat today contains genetically modified ingredients and usually without our knowledge.”
Genetic Modification is the result of combining genes from different organisms to alter or make new organisms like bacteria, animals, and plants or products like vegetables, fruits, and various drinks we consume.  According to Jeffrey M. Smith book author of the internationally bestselling   "Seeds of Deception", there are multiple health dangers of consuming genetically modified organisms including, intestinal bleeding, sterility, soy allergy and liver problems. According to the FDA and the United States Department of Agriculture, there are over 40 plant varieties including cantaloupe, tomatoes, soy beans, corn and more. The Human Genome Project of Energy from the office of science of the U.S Department of Energy did a case study observing genetically modified foods and organisms. In it they concluded that “Like all new technologies, genetic modification poses some risks, both known and unknown.” They went on to say that while some of the effects could be, safety issues concerning health impacts on both humans and animals including allergens, transfer of antibiotic resistance markers, and further unknown effects. Another major worry many people have that could occur with genetic engineering is the cross of genetically engineered organisms with non-genetically engineered organisms.
A recent case written in the New York Times dealing with the issue of genetic engineering is getting the genetic engineering of salmon approved by the FDA.  Many members of the FDA worried about the health effects of the approval of genetically engineering salmon. In the article, Anna Zivian, a senior manager at the group Ocean Conservancy stated that, “The F.D.A. must consider issues related to realistic production, and increase in the potential to cause allergic reactions.”  Questions like how to keep cross breeding from occurring or health effects of consuming the products are main concerns. Deborah B. Whitman, writer of the article Genetically Modified Foods: Harmful or Helpful? , shared similar views stating that there were health risk issues of allergens as well as unknown effects that genetic modification could cause. She also mentioned environmental hazards are a number one concern, genetically engineering or enhancing for example certain plants would in turn affect the insects that eat and digest these plants, killing them and causing a further chain of dying species of insects and animals. Affecting the natural environment by mixing genes of various species is risky and if problems like these became reality the result would be catastrophic.
Overall, genetic engineering is still a mystery. Thus, the long term effects of it are also unknown. I believe that sticking to the old fashioned and natural way of producing plants and food products is the healthiest decision. While genetically enhancing food may add artificial flavoring, create lessen manufacture time, and stop pests, there are many more side effects that come along with the process. This system of manufacturing could unfortunately cause more harm than help.

Why Live In The U.S

The United States
To some people native or foreign to the United States, it is the best country in the world.  Many immigrate to the United States in desperate search for a more opportunistic and promising lifestyle. The United States provides the promise of life, liberty and justice, key things that people of foreign lands are not as fortunate to have. At times I feel both privileged and embarrassed to live in this country but in comparison to other foreign countries, I am happy to call the United States of America home.

No nation is perfect. Just as in foreign nations, America does not fail to elect to corrupt leaders and create unjust laws. Just as in foreign nations, the U.S fails to create lasting organizations and systems to effectively solve both local and domestic disputes, and struggle with economic trouble. With time these problems will improve, but in spite of these issues there are key positive things that persuade immigrants to live in United States.
America still stands as a military superpower, with the worlds most advanced technology to protect citizens from foreign countries. The U.S is the of the worlds leading countries in nuclear defense according to the Federation Of American Scientist in an article titled Status of World Nuclear Forces by Hans Kristensen. Immigrants would perhaps most want to live in America for the social, economic, and religious freedoms they would have. American citizens are guaranteed certain natural rights and liberties under documents like the Declaration of Independence, English Bill of Rights, and the Articles of Confederation. Some of these rights outlined in the documents include the freedom of speech, press, and religion, the right to own land and many more. Along with these documents America has labor laws and workers unions that prohibit employees being overworked in harsh and unfair or unsafe conditions with low wages. This is something that people of foreign nations might truly value and take into high consideration when searching for a better lifestyle. Among this, America also has gender equality placing no man superior over women. This is something that people of foreign countries, specifically women would value in American society.
Another reason why people might want to live in America is because of our strong educational system. With organizations like no child left behind us as a nation lead in the competition of the best and brightest. I will never forget the time I traveled to Brazil this past summer, and what their educational systems were like. Schools were placed in the more advanced parts of town were the poverty stricken children and or adults were to poor to afford because people living in the poorest areas like the favelas which are the slums of places like Salvador de Bahia, have to pay to take the buses that run to different the schools, whereas people living near the school, the middle and upper class people, do not have to pay for transportation. On top of not having the money to attend schools, Brazilians struggle to attend the school because of the distance it is from their households. Schools are purposely placed in areas that the people in poor classes cannot reach or afford simply to keep the poverty stricken in that class of poverty so that they do not advance in society. The system is unfair and truly made me value the education system we have herein America. Though our country struggles with problems as any other one does, I feel proud to be an American citizen and value the rights, freedoms, and opportunities that make it easier to succeed and better myself in life.
