Obesity- A major issue

# 3 Daily Blog Prompt
Obesity has become a world- wide issue.  The issue not only presents physical health complications, but mental and societal ones as well. Being or becoming overweight can drastically change a person’s personality, causing them to be anti social or very guarded. People tend to target people of un- normal weight as a target to jokes. This hurts those that are overweight mentally, some even physically that might result to cutting themselves to release the pain felt inside. There is a saying that goes, “sticks and stones may break my bones but your words don’t hurt me”. Though we try to cover up our feelings about what people say and do expressing how it may not affect us, it does because words hurt. Intelligence and pride are not advertised as much as provocative behavior and looks.  People in society have it backwards, defining beauty as what is on the outside rather then what is on the inside. In society personality is not enough, and being pretty is defined by people with certain facial and bodily features. In cases, like this overweight or obese people become a social outcast. These unfortunate effects to a society influenced by society, rather than people who think for themselves cause problems.  Understanding that there will always be rude people that talk bad about you, and that it is your job to be strong both spiritually, mentally, and emotionally, and let it go is a key individual result. I do not agree with obesity by any means as I see it is a growing problem that must be discontinued for the betterment of society’s health. However, I do feel like just because people choose to or fallen down unhealthy paths it is not moral for us to taunt and tease them but rather encourage and uplift them. They need help physically and mentally, letting them know that it is a problem and that we care and are willing to help rather than make fun. We should embrace the fact that God made us unique, in various shapes and sizes colors and personalities.
